Mike Tyson To Appear Live on Stage In S.F. In
One-Man Show Directed by Spike Lee
Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth is a one-man show that features the infamous boxer and convicted rapistlive on stage talking about himself, and it’s coming to San Francisco’s Orpheum Theater for a week this winter, February 26 to March 3. The show ran for twelve performances in August, at Broadway’s Longacre Theater, and the New York Timescalled it “among the odder spectacles Broadway has seen in a while.”
The show features Tyson talking a lot of trash about ex-wife Robin Givens (to promote his national tour of the play he just started publicly telling a story about catching Givens having sex with Brad Pitt once), and denying the charge that he raped a Miss Black America contestant in 1991, for which he was convicted and served three years in prison. It was written by his current wife Kiki Tyson, and ran briefly in Las Vegas in April before Spike Lee signed on as director, though the Times suggests that Lee’s talents didn’t show through in much of the show, which could be at turns “ham-handed” but “surprisingly amusing.”
Oh, Tyson’s also been claiming that he was high on cocaine while he was shooting The Hangover.
Anyway, there is some premium seating available for the S.F. run which includes a post-show meet-and-greet with Tyson. And tickets go on sale this Friday, December 7. Look for them here.
