After the climactic end of the year at whatever San Francisco New Year’s Eve event you attended, the city sees a post-holiday reset as everyone gets back to work and starts signing up for gym memberships to start the year off right. There are less events in San Francisco during the beginning of the year, however that doesn’t mean that you can’t find fun things to do.
January is a great month for bars, especially sports bars, as there are a variety of playoff and championship games as well as regular season games for every professional sport except Major League Baseball, which runs from April to October. People flock to sports bars around San Francisco like Greens Sports Bar, Final Final, The Boardroom, Kezar Pub and more to watch NCAA Football Bowl Games, NFL Playoffs, College Basketball Conference Play and the NHL All-Star Game as well as NBA and NHL regular season play.
Although the city is back in full swing after the Holidays, February is still a slower month for San Francisco Events. However, the shortest month of the year brings us two popular event days, Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day. Other than the biggest NFL game of the season, sporting events aren’t a big draw with the exception of the NBA All Star Game and the final month of college basketball leading up to March Madness.
If you are looking for things to do in San Francisco in February, there are a few annual events that definitely stand out. Events like the Chinese New Year Parade and Festival, SF Beer Week, Noise Pop Festival and the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition are all fun events to check out.
After a slow start to the year, March takes things up a notch with a wide variety of fun events in San Francisco. The highlight for the month is definitely St. Patrick’s Day, which is one of the best party days of the year. April also marks the start of baseball season with the San Francisco Giants Opening Day at Oracle Park. Throughout the summer, different neighborhoods in San Francisco shut down a street and bring in a variety of food vendors, artisans, musicians, local artists and more for a day or two. The season starts off with The Union Street Festival on the first weekend in June. Other events include The North Beach Festival, The Haight Street Fair, The Fillmore Jazz Festival and more.

It’s a great month for Bay Area Sports as the NFL and NCAA Football seasons are going strong and the Major League Baseball regular season comes to a close as we prepare for playoffs. Arguably the best month for events and activities in San Francisco, October has amazing weather and a long list of things to do.
