San Francisco Fourth of July Fireworks, Events and Transportation


The 4th of July brings fireworks, barbecues, pub crawls, boat parties as we celebrate our nation’s independence. Whether you want to take in a baseball game, take your family to see the fireworks shows or throw down a bunch beers, The Bay Area has something for everyone.

Here are some of the best events for Independence Day in San Francisco:

The CrawlSF Fourth of July Pub Crawl and Hot Dog Eating Contest
When: 7/4/2015, 2PM to 6PM
Where: Check in at The Shop SF (1980 Union Street)
Details: Grab some $3 Beers, $3 Shots and $3 Cocktails at Bar None, Blue Light, The Bus Stop and more of your favorite Union Street Bars. After the Crawl, check out the 4th Annual San Francisco Hot Dog Eating Contest at Bar None.

Fillmore Jazz Festival
When: 7/4/2015 and 7/5/2015, 6PM
Where: Along Fillmore Street between Jackson & Eddy streets
Details: This annual festival features Jazz, Food, Drinks, art and more
Cost: Free!
5th Annual Red, White and Rose Celebration
When: 7/4/2015, 6PM
Where: The Winery on Treasure Island
Details: Taste award-winning wines on Treasure Island. Food will be available from a selection of local food trucks and carts. Fireworks begin at Sundown.
Cost: $15 (ticket price includes parking).
Fourth of July Dinner Dance & Fireworks Cruise
When: 7/4/2015, 6:30PM to 11:00PM
Where: The Boat departs from Pier 3
Details: Hop on the California Hornblower, a flagship yacht in SF and enjoy a 4 course gourmet dinner, open premium bar w/ champagne + after dinner liquors, live entertainment, dancing and amazing fireworks views.
Cost: $123.90-206.50, children under 3 are free.
Fourth of July Celebration at The Pier
When: 7/4/2015, 12:00PM to 10:00PM
Where: Pier 39 in San Francisco
Details: Enjoy music and entertainment and activities as wells a performance by Tainted Love (5 PM) and the fireworks display over the bay at 9:30 p.m.
Cost: Free

Fireworks at California’s Great America
When: 7/3/2015 & 7/4/2015
Where: California’s Great America, Santa Clara, CA
Details: Experience California’s great America during the day and enjoy the fireworks show starting at Dusk.
Cost: Fireworks show included in admission price.

4th of July at Berkeley Marina
When: 7/4/2015: 12PM to 10PM
Where: Berkeley, Berkeley Marina
Details: Enjoy a fun, family day at the Marina with Food trucks, booths, handmade crafts and free dragon boat rowing (12-5pm) plus massages, live pony rides/carnival rides, giant slides, mini-train rides and water bubble ball rides leading up to the fireworks over the water at 9:35 p.m. Live entertainment 12PM to 9PM.

Watch A’s Fireworks From the Field
When: 7/3/2015 (after the game)
Where: Coliseum
Details: Enjoy some post-game fireworks after the game!

Fourth of July at Shoreline
When: 7/4/2015, 8PM
Where: Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountainview, CA
Details: Enjoy music performed by the San Francisco Symphony plus a fireworks show accompanied by the Orchestra. There will be a special tribute to “The Sound of Music”.
Cost: Open seating $24, upper seating $24-$29, lower seating starts at $35. Parking is $10.

Marin County Fair
When: 7/1/2015 to 7/5/2015, 11AM to 11PM
Where: 10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael
Details: Enjoy awesome exhibits, family activities, rides, concerts, farm animals and fireworks. Aaron Neville, The Marshall Tucker Band, Pablo Cruise, Judy Collins

Sausalito 4th of July Festivities
When: 7/4/2015, 10AM. Fireworks begin at 9:20PM
Where: Second and Main Streets ending at Dunphy Park in Sausalito. Fireworks at Gabrielson Park.
What: Check out the Parade followed by dancing, food, tug-of-war and the famous traditional egg toss. The fireworks display at 9:20PM at Gabrielson Park will be set to music on Radio Sausalito 1610 AM or Comcast Cable Channel 30

Transportation to the San Francisco Fireworks Show:

We recommend taking public transportation, Uber, Lyft or Taxis since traffic is a nightmare after the fireworks are over. Public transportation will be crowded and uncomfortable, especially if you arrive late. If you are bringing kids to the fireworks, please plan ahead and stay safe!


There will be extra Southbound Service after the fireworks show.

11 pm: express to San Carlos, then local to San Jose Diridon
11:20 pm: local to San Jose Diridon
11:40 pm: local to San Jose Diridon
12 am: local to San Jose Diridon

1 way tickets or day passes may be purchased at the station ticket machines before boarding. Customers using their Clipper® card (8-ride and e-cash) must remember to tag on before boarding and tag off at their destination station. Caltrain is a Proof-of-Payment system; customers without valid tickets are subject to citation. There will be no alcohol allowed on trains from San Francisco after 9 pm.

Before the Fireworks:

Beginning at 2PM, Muni bus shuttles will run to Fisherman’s Wharf from the Ferry Building, 4th and King streets to Ferry Plaza and Grove and Hyde Streets (Civic Center) to Van Ness Avenue and Chestnut Street Additional bus service will run on the 25 Treasure Island & 28 19th Avenue Muni routes.

After the Fireworks:

shuttle service begins after the fireworks display from 10PM to 11:30PM, boarding at 2 locations:

Embarcadero and Bay Street for service to the Ferry Building and Caltrain station
Polk and Francisco streets for service to Van Ness Avenue and Market Street and Civic Center Muni/BART Station
*The last Embarcadero/Bay Street Shuttle will leave at 11:30PM to get to the Caltrain Station for the Midnight departure.
